A Wellbeing and Gastronomy Gathering at Özyeğin University
Ebru Şinik met with students at Özyeğin University for an inspiring gathering on good living, holistic health, stress management, and career balance.
On November 5, 2025, the Gastronomy and Hotel Management Department at Özyeğin University welcomed a very special guest to its campus. Ebru Şinik, Chair of the Board of the Wellbeing Association, met with students to share the importance of the concept of “Good Living” in both professional and personal life.
This meaningful gathering became much more than an academic talk; it turned into an inspiring experience that opened space for students to reflect on quality of life, career, balance, awareness, and sustainable success.
“A Career Is Not Just About Office Hours”
In her talk, Şinik emphasized that one of the most important indicators of quality of life is wellbeing, and drew attention to the effects of cumulative stress that quietly builds up in both body and mind during intense working life.
Stressing that a career is not merely a “9-to-6” work cycle, she invited students to ask deeper questions about their lives and futures. She highlighted that success should not be measured only through external achievements, but also through meaning, balance, respect, learning, and joy.
Meaningful use of time
Are we spending our time on conscious actions that truly add meaning and create value in our lives?
Learning and growth
Are we learning something new every day, and is that learning guiding us toward a more conscious life?
Respect, joy, and balance
Are we respected by those around us, and are we truly making space for joy in our lives?
These powerful questions transformed the gathering into much more than an academic lecture, creating a memorable space of awareness around the practice of good living.
A Gastronomy Experience at Le Cordon Bleu Standards
Following the inspiring talk, a delightful dining experience was held at Le Cordon Bleu, the world-renowned culinary arts school located within the university.
We extend our sincere thanks to Ebru Tekin Bilbil, faculty member at Özyeğin University, for her kind invitation that made this meaningful gathering possible. The event once again showed that the good living approach is not only a theoretical framework, but also a way of life that is enriched by taste, experience, sharing, and culture.
Thanks to this prestigious collaboration, ongoing since 2012, students receive technical training at international standards while also benefiting from the experience of world-renowned chefs. At the heart of this education, L'Atelier Bleu Restaurant, located on the Çekmeköy Campus, serves both as a professional training kitchen and as a distinguished restaurant, continuing to prepare students for the global gastronomy world.
Why is the good living approach important for students?
University years are not only a time of academic development, but also a critical stage in which life rhythm, stress management, personal balance, and professional identity begin to take shape.
For this reason, a wellbeing-based approach helps students build a stronger foundation in mental clarity, emotional resilience, energy management, focus, and overall quality of life.
